Sweet Ava

My sweet niece recently turned 1. We found this great field, however, the dandelions were well past their prime (not really sure dandelions even have a prime!) but she had fun picking at what was left of them anyways.

Having fun with flare

I have been asked a couple times how I create this sun flare on photos so I thought I'd share it here.

I took this photo in Arches National Park at around 8:00 a.m. just as the sun was popping over the hills. I had my beloved Nikon set on Aperture Priority and the ISO set to 250. I bumped my f-stop all the way up to 22 and fired away. I often times take several shots of the same thing, varying the settings on my camera along the way.

If there's other things you see on here that you wonder about I'd be happy to share them. I've gained a lot of information and fun tips and tricks from other photographers who do the same and I'm happy to pay it forward!

Hope you enjoyed and leave me a comment if you try this out. I'd love to see the result!

The moment you've all been waiting for!

Or at least some of you. :)
I had the pleasure of meeting the family of our beloved Miss Kooistra Let me tell you, they didn't disappoint.  They lived up to their reputation!  (lucky for them, it's a good one!)  :)

Really now, what are brothers for! Always making sure you're looking your best.

My oldest daughter came along (as second shooter mind you) and this was good for her to see.  Brothers can be annoying and drive you crazy, but really, they can be fun sometimes, too.

This family was so well coordinated they even matched the resort!  Well done, boys!  Your Mom raised you well.

Thanks, you guys! It was great fun hanging out with all of you and thanks for laughing at me, even when I called your Dad the wrong name (several times!). If you ever need me to travel to Iowa, I'm more than happy to.

My buddy, Graeme

We had to work to get a smile out of him for his 6 month shoot, but stoic or smiley, he's a honey!
