Happy Valentine's Day

It's become a tradition for us to make homemade Valentine's for all the kids to take to school.   Click here for our 2009 project and here for our 2008 project. I'm thinking last year we took the year off. :) Mia and I have loved (most of the time, sometimes it's more like strongly dislike and wonder what we've gotten ourselves into) making these Cake Pops.  So this year we decided this is what was going to be the Valentine's treat for school.  Yesterday we mass produced these bad boys.

Havin' a ball!

The kids have a few days off of school this week so we needed some projects to do to keep everyone entertained!   I had seen this cute Paper Globe project over at HELLOmynameisHeather.  If you scroll down her blog on the right hand side is a section called FREE Patterns and click on Paper Globes.  We ended up making SEVERAL of these today and they are really cute!

I'll give you a few suggestions that worked for us.  The first would be if you have a circle cutter you'll want to use it. Mine is from  Creative Memories.  You'll need 20 circles for each globe so the circle cutter comes in really handy!  

If you have a paper trimmer that came with a paper scoring blade dig it out!  Each circle needs to be folded on 3 "sides" and it works best with a nice clean fold.  Mine is my trusty Fiskars 12" portable paper trimmer.  And the paper!  It's American Crafts adorable line called Backyard.  We picked it up at our LSS (local scrapbook store). My last little bit of advice would be to follow her directions closely!  We made our first one lopsided and I had to pull it apart.  Using a glue stick,  make the top first, then the bottom and then the middle ring...and glue the middle ring together THEN add the top and bottom. 

 Voila!  A little bit of spring cuteness to add to your home!  

Yesterday was also a day of paper crafting.  After terrorizing :) our LSS with 8 kids picking out projects to do we headed to some friends house to put them together. 

The girls found coordinating "stuff" to make these great little buckets for all their little treasures.  

The boys didn't want to be left out either.  They did a few of their own things, including drawing on some tiny 4" canvas'.
